As members will know, the members in general meeting approved the establishment and transfer of investments to the new Foundation. Members will receive more information on this once the establishment process is completed. Members thank the two outgoing trustees Jeff Lawrence and Tim Frederico for their great assistance and sage advice throughout their term. The early years of building up the Foundation are always the toughest. We welcome Gina Peele and Graeme Barns as the two new trustees. A luncheon for donors is planned at the boathouse for the donors in November.
We continue to be amazed by the generosity of our members and we thank them for enabling the Foundation to be such an important part of the Club’s future. You can donate to the Foundation and receive six monthly donor impact statements by going onto the Australian Sports Foundation website and donating through the Foundations campaign – https://asf.org.au/campaigns/mercantile-rowing-club-foundation-ltd/mercantile-rowing-club-foundation-ltd-annual-giving-campaign.
Our major donors will be recognised with an honour board which will be installed shortly.
Patron Sean Colgan
Sean Colgan will again be racing at the Head of the Yarra in Mal Batten’s Masters crew. And we may be seeing more of him as he plans to spend more time in Melbourne in coming years.

Umpiring
Treasurer Duncan Mackinnon has many skills including international umpiring. He was a jury member of World Cup 1 in Varese Italy this year and he is pictured here approaching the finish of the men’s scull final.
Fellow member Andrew Guerin has reached the official age of international umpiring ‘senility’ and retires after umpiring at the World Rowing Masters in Banyoles Spain in September.
You can become an umpire and assist both the Club and your ongoing interest in the sport by speaking with umpires Bill Webster, Duncan Mackinnon and Andrew Guerin.
