As the days stretch longer and the mornings grow lighter, the Guerin Club (GC) squads are surging into the new season with energy, enthusiasm and serious depth across both the Men’s and Women’s groups.
Men’s GC – Big Boats, Big Momentum
The Men’s GC crew has been steadily gathering force, with Thursday night big-boat sessions becoming a weekly highlight. The shed is buzzing on Saturday mornings, where a flotilla of sculls takes to the water, while a growing number of athletes are diving into a flourishing erg program that’s quickly becoming both competitive and social (depending on where you sit on the leaderboard).
Women’s GC – Building Rhythm & Crew Combinations
The Women’s GC squad has also seen a strong uptick in numbers, with combinations starting to settle and speed quietly emerging. Training attendance is consistently high, and early signs suggest the squad will be well-represented across multiple grades and boat classes this season.
Eyes on Racing: A Season of Opportunities
With fitness, numbers and squad spirit on the rise, the GC race calendar is shaping up beautifully. Upcoming targets include:
Head races – building endurance and grit
Grade regattas – sharpening speed and combinations
Wine tour events – racing with a social twist (and possibly a detour via the cellar door)
Want In? Here’s Your Chance.
