As winter ticks on, the Guerin Club is warming up nicely for the season ahead—with both the men’s and women’s squads building solid foundations before the official launch on August 27th at 6:30pm at the club.
The Men’s Program, led by Alister Taylor, has settled into a great weekly rhythm. Wednesday nights are all about getting stuck into the erg, while Thursday and Saturday sessions see the blokes back on the water, sharpening skills and shaking off the winter rust. Momentum is growing, and spirits are high as we start locking in the race calendar for the coming months.
Over in the Women’s Program, Roy Zhang is leading the charge with his usual mix of good humour and serious intent. The women have been out consistently training in quads and eights, and the boat speed is definitely building. We’re thrilled to welcome three new faces to the squad—Em D, Izzy C, and Izzy P. Great to have you on board, ladies!
With the start of the official season fast approaching, planning is well underway for both squads to tackle country regattas, head races, and a healthy mix of social and racing events. Whether you’re chasing a win or just keen to train hard and have a laugh, the Guerin Club is the place to be.
If you’re curious, on the fence, or just keen to get moving again, now’s the perfect time to jump in. All abilities welcome—come along, get involved, and be part of the crew. We are also looking for new coxswains to join our programme, please contact Roy womensclubrowing@mercantile.org.au or Alistair mensclubrowing@mercantile.org.au for further information.
Bring on the season!
