Mercantile Foundation Report May 2025

Foundation

This year is shaping up to be the Foundation’s biggest year ever for both donations and Club grants. The Foundation expects to receive donations of nearly $500,000 this year and also make the largest level of grants ever to the Club. The largest donation came from a bequest from the Estate of Rosemary Richardson with our cornerstone donors (our Patrons) continuing to annually donate significant sums.

And it is not to late make a donation before 30th June. If it is to be tax deductible, please make it through one of the Mercantile campaigns with the Australian Sports Foundation and please clearly mark it as a Foundation donation.

The Foundation makes grants of at least 4% of the capital annually to Club. With the increased capital, the Foundation grants for 2025-26 are likely to be about $130,000.

Dom Frederico

The Sean Colgan plan to encourage Mercs members to train with Leander Club in the lead up to HRR and Leander members to train at Mercs in our summer is now two way traffic. Dom Frederico is racing with Leander in the lead up to HRR. He raced in the Leander quad which was successful at the Metropolitan Regatta and so is showing good form for HRR. He is currently on the Leander Club camp in Banyoles Spain.

Great work Dom and thank you to our patrons for financially enabling this to occur.
