Captain’s Report June 2025

As we transition into July and August, Mercantile Rowing Club reflects on a successful June and looks forward to the exciting programs ahead.

Transitioning Training Programs

Our comprehensive Winter Training Program has now successfully concluded. This program saw over 80 athletes participate, with strong attendance and great progress across all squads. We extend our thanks to the dedicated coaching group for their leadership in making this program a success.

Looking ahead, we are now eagerly preparing for the commencement of our Junior Development and Junior Performance programs at the start of July/August. These programs are vital for nurturing our emerging talent and ensuring a strong future for Mercantile rowing.

U23 World Rowing Championships Representation

We are incredibly proud to announce that two of our Mercantile athletes, Anna Morrison and Summer Balla Kellett, have been selected to represent Australia at the upcoming 2025 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. This prestigious event will take place from July 23rd to 27th in PoznaƄ, Poland. Anna is part of the U23 Women’s Eight crew, and Summer is the coxswain for the U23 Women’s Eight. Their selection is a testament to their hard work, talent, and commitment, and we wish them both the very best as they compete on the world stage. The entire club will be cheering them on!

Club Spirit

June continued to foster a strong club spirit, with social events and thriving training sessions showcasing the camaraderie and dedication that define Mercantile. The positive momentum from our Henley campaign and the successful winter program will undoubtedly carry into the upcoming junior programs.

Thank you to all members, coaches, volunteers, and supporters for your unwavering commitment to Mercantile Rowing Club. We look forward to seeing the continued success of our athletes and the growth of our junior programs in the months to come.
