Masters September 2025

With spring signalling the start of racing season, the Mercantile Masters Squad has launched into focused preparation for one of the marquee events on the calendar — the Head of the Yarra. This year we are proud to be fielding three eights, a testament to both the strength and depth of our Masters program.

Training has stepped up in both intensity and consistency, with crews committing to early morning rows, technical refinement, and building endurance for the iconic 8.6km course. The atmosphere on the landing has been buzzing, with experienced campaigners guiding newer Masters into rhythm and race readiness. Crew cohesion continues to grow with every session, and there is a genuine sense of collective purpose as the group builds towards November.

Building Rhythm, Building Culture

Alongside the on-water work, the Masters continue to strengthen their social connection — a vital pillar of the squad’s culture. Shared coffees, post-row debriefs and plenty of support across crews are helping drive motivation through the training block.

Masters Dinner – A Date for the Diary

🗓 Saturday, 25 October
📍 Lamaro’s Hotel

The annual Masters Dinner returns as a highlight of the squad calendar — a night to celebrate milestones, welcome new members, share stories (some better verified than others), and enjoy an evening together before the Head of the Yarra push begins in earnest.

With strong numbers, renewed energy, and a clear focus on performance, the Masters Squad is heading into the spring racing season with confidence and purpose. Head of the Yarra is shaping up to be a fantastic showcase of Mercantile’s Masters depth, commitment, and spirit.
