Masters June 2025

The Mercantile Masters continue their steady winter grind with plenty of hard yards both on and off the water. Despite the chill, spirits remain high as crews clock the kilometres and keep the erg room humming. The commitment to fitness and camaraderie is as strong as ever.

A highlight of the past month was the always-entertaining Masters End of Year Lunch, generously hosted by Henry Edgar and Berge Khachigian. A huge thank you to both for putting on yet another memorable gathering. The afternoon was filled with good food, better company, and the now-traditional dose of Mercantile-style humour.

The Captain’s Report made its usual rousing appearance, followed by a string of elite monologues, passionate motions, and—unsurprisingly—most of them were raised and carried without resistance. Democracy at its finest.

As we push deeper into winter, training continues to build toward spring racing and the long-term target of Head of the Yarra. We’re looking forward to more big boat sessions, more laughs, and the continued blend of competitiveness and community that makes the Mercs Masters so unique.
