Let’s Go, Mercs Masters!
The 2025 VIC State Masters Regatta loomed large for our ever-growing Mercantile Masters squad—and what a return it was. Fielding two eights and a four, Mercs made a bold statement on the start line, prompting the starter to exclaim, “What is this? Not one but two eights from Mercantile?!” Even other crews seemed surprised we had a Masters program at all. But yes, we do—powered by grit, an Empacher, and a buzzing WhatsApp group.
In true Mercs Masters fashion, the job was done by midday: two races, two wins, and Drew already halfway home with the trailer before lunch. Our eights finished 1st and 4th, and the four scraped through for a bowball victory—despite an 8-second handicap. Vintage stuff.
