Reporting on regattas, Wendouree-Ballarat regatta, NSW states, Nagambie regatta and Australian Henley.
Wendouree-Ballarat regatta saw a large contingent of club rowers have their first race of the season, with a win in the Female Club Single by Lindsay Calvert, followed by Anne Pinneke and Amy Florence in 2nd and 3rd. The club also collected an array of minor placing across the day in various other events throughout the day.
NSW states is always a pinnacle event of the racing season, which saw our Senior HP athletes and top Youth athletes race in various events across the weekend of racing. A large amount of Mercantile athletes getting on the podium in at least one event:
• Zara Kafouri
• Jordan Roberts
• Oscar Tyrrell
• Anna Morrison
• Emmie Frederico
• Sophie Reinehr
• Dom Frederico
• Liv Nairn
• Jess Hawker
Nagambie regatta was the second youth state team selection regatta of the season. Our u21 rowers competed well in their small boats and fours, complimenting the training they have been doing and the work put in by their coaches.
AUS Henley was the final regatta on the February racing calendar. Mercantile had a mixed bag of results from the day, however stand out performance came from Sophie Reinehr who won two cups on the day. One stroking the women’s open eight in the morning, followed by winning the open women’s single scull in the evening. Sophie now has a complete set of women’s open event cups from the Australian Henley regatta after winning the double scull last season.
